The two-story HQ is planned for 4102 Glow Ave., a site of about 5.5 acres… (and) will help the company grow, KRI CEO Richard Serrano said in a press statement. It will be about double the size of the company’s current home at 1330 Blue Spruce Drive in Fort Collins and is expected to be built in 12 to 18 months. The new building is expected to house the company’s research and development, production and testing, quality control and administration teams.”

Attorneys for the petition organizers and the four Greeley residents who filed a protest hoping to foil their plans stated their cases Tuesday morning before municipal election specialist Karen Goldman as more than two dozen people looked on during a 1-hour, 35-minute hearing in the Greeley Municipal Court building.”

ECONOMIC & EMPLOYMENT NEWS

  • Greeley, Windsor Agree to Mediation Regarding Future Wastewater Treatment
    • BizWest | “The Greeley City Council in April voted to authorize the city attorney’s office to bring legal action against the neighboring community of Windsor, claiming that the smaller community has ignored a 17-year-old intergovernmental agreement on infrastructure. The IGA requires Windsor to share some of its wastewater-storage capacity with Greeley, an agreement that Greeley claims has been breached. Claims center around costs of treatment and cooperation between the two communities regarding a wastewater-treatment plant that would accommodate growth in the west Greeley area.”
  • Save The Poudre Won’t Try to Stop Thornton From Finishing Water Pipeline
    • Coloradoan | “Save The Poudre says it will not continue to challenge Thornton’s pipeline project. The environmental advocacy group that seeks to protect the Poudre River says it will not appeal a judge’s ruling that allowed the project to proceed. The project is set to bring water from the Poudre to Thornton via a pipeline running through Larimer, Weld and Adams counties. Thornton obtained the water rights by purchasing agricultural properties decades ago. Larimer County commissioners, and the planning commission before them, approved the pipeline permit in 2024.”
  • The Biggest Retailers Are Thriving in the Tariff Economy
    • WSJ | “In the tariff economy, retailers who cater to cautious consumers are winning. Those who don’t are falling behind. Walmart (WMT +0.17%), Amazon (AMZN +1.31%), and the owner of T.J. Maxx are scooping up market share from rivals by offering shoppers good deals and convenience. In a bid to ease the burden on stressed-out consumers and undercut competitors, Walmart has kept price increases to a minimum by absorbing much of the tariff cost. “We’re keeping our prices as low as we can for as long as we can,” Walmart Chief Executive Doug McMillon said Thursday. TJX (TJX -0.20%) is seizing the moment by snapping up excess inventory that other retailers ordered ahead of tariffs—and now need to unload. Its CEO called the buying opportunities “outstanding.” Amazon made improvements to its delivery network that helped get packages to customers faster and more cheaply. That helped propel a whopping 11% increase in online-store sales in the latest quarter, Amazon executives said.”
  • U.S. Economy Grew Faster in Second Quarter, New Estimate Shows
    • WSJ | “Gross domestic product expanded at a seasonally and inflation-adjusted annual rate of 3.3% in the quarter, the Commerce Department said in an updated estimate Thursday. The department had previously said the economy grew by 3%…. The latest estimate changed because of revisions to investment and consumer spending, the Department said. Investments in intellectual property, light trucks and commercial and healthcare structures were all revised upward. Revisions, while a routine part of all major economic data, have been more closely watched in recent months as economists, policymakers and investors hunt for clues to the direction of the economy.”
  • Central U.S. Manufacturing Maintains Expansion, But Prices Keep Rising Too
    • WSJ | “The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City said Thursday that its Tenth District manufacturing survey’s composite index was steady at 1.0 this month, maintaining the same level as July, when for the first time in three years the index pointed to expansion rather than contraction in the area’s manufacturing. The composite index is an average of indexes for production, new orders, employment, supplier-delivery time and raw-materials inventories…. The manufacturing survey covers activity in the Tenth District, which includes Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, the northern half of New Mexico and the western third of Missouri. With activity continuing to increases, price pressures also heated up. The index showed rises in both the prices manufacturers pay for raw materials, and the prices they receive for finished goods.”
